HPU Professors Play Major Roles In 'The SantaLand Diaries' Production

High Point University theatre professors Jay Putnam and Ami Shupe have recently spent time on the holiday production of "The SantaLand Diaries" at the Triad Stage in Greensboro. "This is the third show on which we've collaborated this fall," Shupe says. "The first two were challenging and rewarding, but we've gotten a chance to play more with this one. And green velvet costumes are always a bonus."

HPU To Hold Christmas Cabaret

If you're in the mood for the holiday season, High Point University is the perfect place to be, thanks to the upcoming production of the Christmas Cabaret. Shows will be held Dec. 5-7 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. The event is open to the public. The Christmas Cabaret will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6; and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7. A private production of the show will be held Dec. 4.
 

HPU Honors Dean Of Chapel On 40TH Anniversary Of Ordination

High Point University honored Dr. Hal Warlick during the weekly worship service in Hayworth Chapel on Nov. 19 for the 40th anniversary of his ordination into the Christian ministry. Warlick, who serves as dean of the chapel and professor of religion, began his HPU career in 1989. He became ordained on May 12, 1968, at First Baptist Church in North Augusta, S.C. Since his ordination, he has delivered 1,861 sermons.
 

HPU Student Awarded Research Grant

High Point University student Justin Handy, a senior from Winston-Salem majoring in psychology, was recently awarded the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU) undergraduate research grant. Grants for the 2008-09 school year were awarded to only seven students performing research at the undergraduate level from NCICU's 36 member colleges and universities in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
